LCMD Hosts White Coat Ceremony for MBBS Batch 21
Liaquat College of Medicine & Dentistry (LCMD) organized a dignified Commencement Day / Day One Ceremony for MBBS Batch 21, welcoming new medical students into the noble profession of medicine. The event was attended by faculty members, administration, students, and distinguished guests. The ceremony began with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by the National Anthem. The event was gracefully moderated by Dr. Farzana Azhar, Dr. Aqeela Zehra, and Dr. Abeer Athar. Addressing the gathering, Prof. Dr. Rashid Naseem Khan, Principal, Liaquat College of Medicine & Dentistry, warmly welcomed the new students. In his welcome note and brief overview, he emphasized that the beginning of MBBS is not merely an academic milestone but the start of a lifelong commitment to humanity. He highlighted the importance of professionalism, ethical conduct, compassion, and integrity in medical practice, and assured students that LCMD is fully equipped with experienced faculty and modern teaching facilities to support their academic and professional growth. The Guest of Honor, Dr. Muhammad Shamvil Ashraf, in his speech, advised students to remain dedicated, disciplined, and resilient throughout their medical journey. He stressed that medicine demands continuous learning, patience, and a strong sense of responsibility toward patients and society. The Chief Guest, Prof. Dr. Syed Shahid Noor, delivered an inspiring address focusing on the symbolic importance of the White Coat. He stated that the white coat represents trust, honesty, responsibility, and commitment to patient care. He encouraged students to uphold medical ethics, respect patient dignity, and actively engage in research and lifelong learning. Following the address, the Chief Guest and Guest of Honor performed the White Coat Donning Ceremony. The Oath-Taking Ceremony was administered by Prof. Dr. Rizwan Azami, during which students pledged to uphold medical ethics, safeguard patient rights, and dedicate themselves to the service of humanity. During the academic briefing session, heads of various departments introduced students to the curriculum and learning framework. The Department of Physiology briefing was conducted by Prof. Dr. Pervaiz Sandila, emphasizing the foundation of medical sciences. The Department of Anatomy briefing was presented by Prof. Dr. Talat Yasmeen, focusing on discipline and practical learning. The Department of Biochemistry briefing was delivered by Prof. Dr. Farhan Jaleel, highlighting the subject’s relevance in clinical practice. The Social Sciences Module briefing was given by Prof. Dr. Kiran Mehtab, stressing the social responsibilities of medical professionals. Student affairs and institutional policies were explained by Dr. Zareen Naz, while the Department of Examination briefing was conducted by Prof. Dr. Abdul Malik, who explained the assessment and evaluation system.
